Providing support and comfort for families

We are proud to be long-term supporters of Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand, helping provide families in their care sleep in comfort and support.  RMHC provides a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families, so they can focus on what’s most important, supporting their child in the midst of hospital treatment.  Since 2015, we have donated Sealy Posturepedic beds to RMHC facilities around the country, ensuring families have somewhere safe and comfortable to sleep. We have also extended this donation to provide beds for RMHC Fiji.

At Sealy NZ, we have huge admiration for the important work RMHC does in supporting more than 4,600 families each year. The houses offer practical support and spaces for families to relax and recharge during a very difficult time.  RMHC New Zealand CEO Wayne Howett says our donation of beds helps give Kiwi families a comfortable night’s sleep during a very stressful time.  “Each year RMHC provides families with much-needed support and accommodation free of charge and we simply couldn’t do that without the charity partnerships we have, with companies like Sealy,” he says.  “We know a well-rested family is better able to support their child throughout their medical journey and Sealy’s ongoing donation of quality, comfortable beds plays a significant role in giving those families the best possible rest and care while they’re staying at our houses.  We really appreciate Sealy’s support in helping keep families close when they need it most.”

The Lee family from Fielding is one of those whānau who know just how important a restful sleep can be during a worrying time, having stayed at a Ronald McDonald House while their child was in hospital.  “We love the spacious rooms and the comfy beds. The room is the perfect place to spend some private family time together.”

Emma Wright, whose daughter is undergoing treatment at Starship Hospital says that having a cosy bed to sleep in after a long day of treatment is a huge help.  “My daughter always has the best night’s sleep at Ronald McDonald House, after her treatments at Starship Hospital. I love having a cosy bed to welcome me after spending long hours at hospital.”

At Sealy NZ, we feel privileged to support RMHC; this goes beyond supplying just bedding needs. Our team offer additional aid, including the preparation of lunches for families staying at the House, and we plan to continue this tangible level of support.  RMHC offers incredible facilities for families and we look forward to helping them continue this essential service.
